Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon, Peanut Butter and Chocolate; some things are just better together. This is why the collaboration between Sierra Nevada and Russian River Brewing has me so excited! Both Sierra Nevada and Russian River Brewing hold pieces of my heart with their Big Foot Barley Wine and Pliny the Elder respectively; but their latest collabo, a gorgeous “domesticated wild ale” Brux is my new boyfriend. Brux is unlike anything you expect from an ale; it’s fresh yet complicated, and hoppy but happy with it’s notes of green grass and apple. Russian River brings to it certainly it’s love of traditional belgian ales and use of Brettanomyces, a yeast more popular in wine making than brewing that adds a delightful sourness.
This moment of awesome was brought to me at the recently opened Libertine Pub on the Embarcadero in Morro Bay. My mates and I that afternoon enjoyed an awesome meeting during it’s “Fancy Beer Fridays” although judging from the line-up local beer geeks can enjoy an amazing hand crafted craft brew any day of the week.
